A Marine with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365 looks out the window on a CH-46 Sea Knight at the devastation caused my hurricane Katrina. The Marines of Special Purpose MAGTAF Katrina are acting as a command element for the support effort headquartered at Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base Belle Chasse, La outside of New Orleans, supporting Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Joint Task Force Katrina is an milti-service support effort to assist victims of hurricane Katrina.

A Marine attached to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit watches the shores as his watercraft patrols the Euphrates River outside of Forward Operating Base Iskandariyah, Iraq, Oct. 1. The Marines are with Small Crafts Company attached to Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 2nd Marines. The 24th MEU is currently conducting security and stability operations in the Northern Babil province of Iraq.
